New Delhi: A five member team of the Special Investigation Team (SIT), investigating the Sunanda Pushkar murder case, on Monday night started questioning Congress MP Shashi Tharror at Vasant Vihar police station.
Tharoor reached Vasant Vihar police campus in South Delhi, hours after Delhi Police chief B S Bassi said that the Congress MP will be quizzed within 48 hours.
The police chief maintained that all those people relevant in the case are being examined by the Special Investigation Team probing the high-profile case.
Asked on the number of times the former union minister can be questioned and for how long, Bassi said, “I cannot say at this moment. May be it could be for few minutes may be it could be a longer exercise.â€
Tharoor recently reiterated what he described as his continuing cooperation, but said he has written to Delhi Police chief about concerns about how the inquiry is being conducted. He said at a press conference last week that the investigation must be “free of political pressure or a pre-determined outcome.”
Last week, the Congress MP attacked BJP leader Subramanian Swamy who claimed to know the details of the Sunanda case. “Who is Swamy? If he knows the murderer, let him tell the police,” Tharoor said.
Swamy alleged that Tharoor knew about his wife’s killer and was telling lies to cover up the case.
The Delhi Police registered a case of murder in the Sunanda Pushkar case earlier this month. Sunanda was found dead in a five-star hotel in New Delhi on January 17, 2013, a day after the couple checked in because their official house was allegedly being painted.
