New Delhi: The I&B Ministry has approved the appointment of two senior officials for key posts of Member (Personnel) and Member (Finance) in the Prasar Bharati Board which have been vacant for past several months.
It has been decided that Suresh Ch Panda, a retired IAS officer, will be appointed as Member (Personnel) while Rajeev Singh, who is working at a senior position in BSNL, will be appointed as Member (Finance), sources said.
The names of these officers have been recommended by a committee headed by Vice-President M Hamid Ansari and comprising of Chairman of the Press Council of India (PCI) C K Prasad and Information and Broadcasting (I&B) secretary Bimal Julka, they added.
I&B Minister Arun Jaitley is also learnt to have cleared the appointments as per procedure after they were recommended by the committee, the sources said.
As per the Prasar Bharati Act, the board for the public broadcaster should consist of a chairman, one executive member, one member (Finance), one Member (personnel), six part-time members, DG Akashvani, DG Doordarshan, one representative of I&B Ministry and two representatives of the employees of the corporation.
