Why did this young girl break the internet?

Date:

In strife-torn Syria, where children are most vulnerable and susceptible to the violence and horror, the everyday clashes and rage have not left any essence of childhood in their lives. Children in the country have seen weapons and bombs instead of books and cartoons, smoke instead of rainbows.

Photojournalist Nadia Abu Shaban tweeted this picture of a little girl supposedly in Syria — a photo that we cannot however independently verify. In the picture, the little one is seen raising her hands portraying an act of surrender when she actually mistook the camera for a weapon.

The child’s act depicts the daily life in Syria — a country that has seen schools, hospitals and even orphanages being bombed.

The picture, which has gone viral on social media, has been ‘re-tweeted’ over 1500 times.
