Xiaomi heads to Delhi for global launch

New Delhi: ‘i is coming’. This is the mysterious message you will see when you log on to Xiaomi website.

Chinese smartphone start up Xiaomi has put India on the centre of its radar after its smartphones made a good business in the country.

Underlining the importance of the Indian market, Xiaomi will be organising a global launch in New Delhi on April 23.

Xiaomi CEO & Founder Lei Jun and President & Co-Founder Bin Lin will attend the launch at Siri Fort auditorium along with Hugo Barra (VP Xiaomi Global).

Fans of the device are also invited to register for the event. However, it is not clear which device will be launched in India.

Xiaomi set foot in Indian market with an exclusive deal with online retailer Flipkart. Having sold one million pieces through this single channel, they moved to tap two more online retailers in India, Amazon India and Snapdeal.

Recently, the Chinese smartphone maker made its phone available for offline customers too where people now can buy the Mi devices from 800 outlets of ‘The mobile store’ and Airtel stores.
