New Delhi: If speed and style is what you love in bikes, then your wish is not that far. Italian bike-maker is back in India and this time its goals are big.

Scratching your head?

Ducati is back in India. Though the brand had made its debut in 2009 with its official importer Precision Motor India, the operations stopped in January, 2014 when the Italian bike-maker decided to form its own national sales company with Precision becoming one of its distributors.

But, on Friday, Ducati India Pvt. Ltd. held its first press conference, and unveiled two new variants of the Scrambler – Scrambler Full Throttle and the Scrambler Classic.

Though the prices for these variants were not announced, prices for the Scrambler range in India, which starts with the Icon model, starts at Rs 6.77 lakhs, ex-Showroom, New Delhi.

The re-entry of Ducati in India is highly reinforced, unlike last time when the whole operation imploded due to inefficiency of the local partner who was responsible for distribution and service.

On the occasion, Pierfrancesco Scalzo, Ducati Asia General Manager for Sales and Marketing and Ravi Avalur, Marketing Director for Ducati India Pvt. Ltd. outlined the company’s plans.

The Italian bike manufacturer is present in the country through dealerships and service centers in New Delhi NCR and Mumbai, the former being the largest showroom for Ducati in the world. Going forth, the brand will open a center in Bengaluru by October 2015, followed by dealerships in other metropolitan cities such as Chennai, Kolkata, Pune, Hyderabad, Cochin, Chandigarh, Goa and Jaipur.

For now, the bikes available in India include the Monster range – the 795, 796 S2R, Scrambler, Hypermotard, Hyperstrada, 899 Panigale and the sports cruiser Diavel. By October 2015, Ducati will launch the Multistrada in India as well.

Ducati has presence in 90 countries with 825 dealers across the world. Asia is an important market for Ducati with an assembly plant in Thailand. And this is where all Ducatis to be sold in India will be assembled.

Bookings for the Ducati models are now open, with a minimum down payment of Rs 2 lakh, and deliveries to customers as per availability.
