Six new IIMs in the pipeline

For all those students who have always dreamt of studying in IIM,  there is certainly good news for all you! We will soon be having six more IIM institutes in India.

The Cabinet has approved the plan to set up six more Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in India, and this news was announced by the Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad in a press conference on Wednesday.

Locations:

The locations for these institutes will be Vishakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Sirmaur (Himachal Pradesh), Bodh Gaya (Bihar), Amritsar (Punjab) and Sambalpur (Odisha).

Narendra Modi government had promised five new IITs and six news IIMs.

The institutes are expected to operationalise from academic session 2015-16 as Common Aptitude Test website gave the option to students to apply for the new institutes as well.

Current locations:

Currently, there are 13 IIMs in India and they are situated at at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Kozhikode, Shillong, Raipur, Rohtak, Ranchi, Kashipur, Lucknow, Indore, Udaipur and Tiruchirappalli. With an addition of 6 more, the total number will go up by 19.
