Hema Malini blames father of deceased child for accident

New Delhi: While the parents of the 4-year-old girl who died in the car accident are still mourning the death of their child, actor turned politician Hema Malini in a series of tweets accused the father of the deceased for not following traffic rules which eventually led to the accident.

The 66-year-old actor-turned-politician, who returned to Mumbai after getting herself treated on July 6, paid her condolences to the little girl on Twitter, writing, “My heart goes out to the child who unnecessarily lost her life and the family members who have been injured in the accident.”

She further added, “How I wish the girl’s father had followed the traffic rules – thn this accident could have been averted & the lil one’s life safe!”

The mishap occurred on July 2 when the actress’ Mercedes collided with an Alto car, killing one and leaving the remaining people travelling in the Alto car severely injured. 

Witnesses at the site of the accident in Dausa in Rajasthan said that Hema Malini, who was injured on the forehead, was driven away to Jaipur soon after the car crash in a private vehicle by a local BJP leader. Her assistant who was travelling with her, and the driver of her Mercedes also left with her.

The driver was arrested later in the night and has been booked for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. He has been granted bail.
