Kickstarting I Day celebrations on a fashionable note!

Fashion is also paying tribute to our long struggle for freedom which is still going on in rural areas, by launching a week long Jashn-e-Azaadi handicraft exhibition- cum sale.

The Ministry of Textiles in collaboration with Indian Handicrafts and the office of Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) will inaugurate it at the Dilli Haat in South Delhi on Monday.

When can you visit?

The week-long event will last from August 10 to August 16 and will be open to buyers, sellers and visitors from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The inauguration will take place at 6 p.m. and will be followed by a cultural programme.

Motif:

The theme of the Jashn-e-Azaadi, Handicrafts Exhibition-Cum Sale is to celebrate the freedom of India’s famed indigenous craftsmen to create their range of handicrafts, and the Indian citizen’s freedom to enjoy these magical creations.

According to an advertisement taken out by the Textiles Ministry, the Jashn-e-Azaadi, Handicrafts Exhibition-Cum Sale will display hand crafted and hand painted embroidered fabrics , saris, lehengas and other women’s wear, besides bed linen, cushion covers, pottery, home decorations, clay toys, terracotta horses and bell metal work.
