When the silver screen brimmed with patriotism!

The feeling of patriotism is in all of us and Bollywood is definitely nowhere behind. We often see some or the other beautiful creation of Bollywood, which actually pumps up our blood and increases the level of patriotism, which vanishes at times.

While some movies succeed in bringing a strong sense of nationality, on the other hand some pack songs and scenes which revive that time period and all the struggles which our freedom fighters might have faced.

Mother India

This is one of the most evergreen movies one could ever think of. Mother India which starred Nargis, who portrayed an image of a poor lady who struggles hard to earn a living for her family, and goes through a lot many hardships and troubles without her husband. It was a brilliant movie directed by Mehboob Khan in the year, 1957; the movie got applauses from all around the corners and the international version was also nominated for Oscars.

Roja:

Roja, a Mani Ratnam directorial film was originally made in Tamil and later it was made in Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Marathi. The film showcased the image of terrorism across the world and also highlighted the power of a common man who faces a lot of troubles and politics against him. The film was released in 1992 and was highly appreciated by one and all.

Lagaan:

It was a deadly combination of cricket and rebellion against the British Empire. The movie was set in the time period when we were ruled by them and how we faced everything and succeeded in getting India a free nation. Lagaan was directed by Ashutosh Gowariker with Aamir Khan and Gracy Singh in the lead roles. The movie was released in 2001.

Lakshya

‘Lakshya’ was released in the year 2004. Starring Hrithik Roshan, Preity Zinta, Sharad Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Om Puri and Boman Irani, the film was directed by Farhan Akhtar. This war-based film revolved around the life of Karan Shergill from his college days to the Acting Captain in the Indian Army. Though the movie is a work of fiction, it had the Kargil war as its backdrop.

Rang De Basanti:

The story of six young and rebellious men who help an English girl in making a documentary on the extremist freedom fighters of the country and also relives that period when India was struggling hard for getting freedom. It was an amazing creation of Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and was released in 2006 with Aamir Khan, Soha Ali Khan, Siddharth and Sharman Joshi in the lead roles.

Chak De India:

A disgraced hockey player coaches the women’s national team to win back his honour and dignity, which he lost while he himself was playing for Indian Hockey Team and gets tagged as a culprit. The film was directed by Shimit Amin, starring Shahrukh Khan in the lead and the movie was released in 2007.

Swades:

One of the most beautiful movies one could see is Swadesh, it’s a movie based on a life of a rich man who comes to India to take his nanny along with him to America and meanwhile he realises his roots from where he belonged to and what all difficulties people face who stay there. Swades was another beauty by Ashutosh Gowariker which starred Shahrukh Khan in the lead and was released in 2004.
