New Delhi: The Maharashtra Government on Tuesday issued an order saying only Marathi speaking people would be allowed to get permit for new auto rickshaw from November 1.
“After November 1, permit for new auto rickshaw will be given only to those applicants who can speak Marathi,” said Maharashtra Transport Minister Diwakar Raote.
Maharashtra’s capital Mumbai alone has more than 11 lakh auto permits. The state is considerably urbanised and the order is also likely to impact Pune, Nashik, Aurangabad and other urban centres.
