England captain Alastair Cook (39) and Moeen Ali (15) were at the crease after Shoaib Malik hit a career best 245 and Asad Shafiq made 107 in a run-feast on a placid Sheik Zayed Stadium pitch.
England trail by 467 runs in the first innings.
Pacemen Ben Stokes finished with 4-57 while James Anderson took 2-42.
