Doordarshan National to strengthen its prime time with new shows

Date:

New Delhi: Fulfilling its promise to bring in new content with absolutely new shows of different genres, Doordarshan National this month brings a spate of new shows – from a daily soap, two crime shows and a scintillating weekend music reality show.

Doordarshan, launched its new look with a bunch of new heart warming shows from August 15, where period dramas, daily soaps and slice of life dramas filled the prime time slots making DD National slide higher in the time spent by an average viewer in the age group of 15-32 years.

“The slow and steady approach adopted by us, to garner good viewership and ratings, has started to show promising results. Keeping with that, our second stage of introducing fresh content in prime time band is beginning from October 19th,” said ADG Programming, Deepa Chandra.

Starting off with two crime shows based on real stories ‘IPS Diary’ from October 9 every Monday and Tuesday at 10:30 pm and ‘Mashaal’ from October 21 every Wednesday and Thursday at 10:30 pm.

IPS diary is going to bring in a familiar and popular face from its yesteryears, Kavita Choudhary of Udaan fame of the 1980s era. She is featuring as a retired cop and will bring some heart-rending crime cases with her.

At 9:30 pm from October 26 starts a daily soap, ‘Albeli…Kahaani Pyar Ki’. It is a story of a Gujarati village girl, who is married into a posh corporate family. How the rustic girl blends and blunders into a beautiful romance with the suave, rich boy; is the way the story unfolds.

The weekend bonanza that DD National will bring this October is a singing reality show, ‘Sur Sagar’ with 20 bands and 20 singers competing for the title. The show starting from October 31 completes the month’s extravaganza of new shows with a bang.
