Maruti Suzuki to launch hatchback Baleno next week

Date:

Chennai: Country’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki India is all set to launch it’s premium hatchback Baleno next week, which will be exported to over hundred countries as a ‘Made-in-India’ car.

“We showcased the car in Frankfurt motor show. By October 26, we will be launching it in India not only to domestic market but also to over hundred foreign markets”, Maruti Suzuki India Executive Director R S Kalsi said.

Years back Baleno was popular as a premium sedan by Maruti Suzuki in the domestic market but with entry of Maruti Suzuki’s SX4, its production was stopped.

The company is mulling the re-entry of the brand Baleno as a premium hatchback.

“It will be a Made-in-India car and will be exported to over hundred countries like European countries and Latin American countries”, Kalsi said after unveiling the 71st Nexa outlet here.

Stating that the premium hatchback segment was growing at a rate of 20 per cent year-on-year, the company would sell Baleno as the second product from Nexa outlets.

“Baleno will be available as our second product from Nexa showrooms after SUV S-Cross. Already, we have sold 10,000 S-Cross. There has been a significant response for Nexa outlets. By March 2016, we will be having 100 Nexa showrooms across the country”, he said.

The company is also planning to open seven more Nexa outlets in Tamil Nadu, said Maruti Suzuki India Senior Vice-President (New Channel) Marketing and Sales Partho Banerjee.

“We already have three outlets now. We are planning to open seven more, taking the total to 10 Nexa outlets in Tamil Nadu”, he added.
