New Delhi: India’s daughter, Geeta, will finally return to India on Monday after the long wait of 15-years when she was accidently crossed the border.

The speech and hearing impaired girl living in Pakistan, will be arriving from Karachi by Pakistan International Airlines Flight 272 on Monday at Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi at around 10:20 am. She will be received by Pakistani diplomats.

In the afternoon Geeta will meet Foreign Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, followed by Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit in the evening.

Geeta will be accompanied by members from the Edhi Foundation, which looked after her across the border. An Indian diplomat from the High Commission in Islamabad will also accompany her.
Meanwhile, the Ministry has cleared that Geeta will be handed over to the true family in India only after the DNA tests.

“If the DNA test of the family (who claims to be Geeta’s family) matches with Geeta’s DNA, she will be handed over to them. If the DNA test does not match then, Geeta will be taken care by a good organisation till she meets her family,” the second secretary of the Indian High Commission in Pakistan, P.K. Jain said.

“On October 26, we will be bringing Geeta back to India. Together with Geeta, we have invited five official family members of Edhi foundation. They will be treated as state guest during their stay in India,” MEA official spokesperson Vikas Swarup said.
