A replacement for water bottles that you can actually eat!

Date:

In a bid to protect nature from non-renewable waste, Skipping Rocks Lab has developed an edible, biodegradable water bottle that they hope will someday replace the plastic water bottle.

Ooho! is a new kind of packaging made from seaweed that proposes an alternative to plastic bottles. Their spherical water container is easy and cheap to make, strong, hygienic, biodegradable, and can even be eaten.

The consumption of non-renewable resources for single use bottles and the amount of waste generated is profoundly unsustainable. The aim of Ooho is to provide the convenience of plastic bottles while limiting the environmental impact.

Ooho! is the first project of Skipping Rocks Lab, a London-based startup cofounded by Rodrigo Garcia Gonzalez, Guillaume Couche and Pierre Paslier.

Skipping Rocks Lab is part of the Climate KIC start-up acceleration program founded by the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT).

Expect Your Portable Water to Come in Edible, Blob Form

Eliminating plastic water bottles has been an obsession for industrial designers for ages, with large organizations like The Food and Water Watch and many universities getting on board. Startup Skipping Rocks Lab has its own intriguing solution: an edible, flexible water “blob” container called the Ooho!
