Kohli wins toss, India to bat against South Africa

Mohali: Four-match test series between India and South Africa commences on Thursday and India skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat against South Africa in the first Test at Mohali’s PCA Stadium.

India has left out paceman Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Stuart Binny. Ishant Sharma is also sitting out to serve one match ban on him.

South Afica have handed Test debut to paceman Kagiso Rabada, who made an impression in T20 and ODI series.

India: Virat Kohli (C), Shikhar Dhawan, Murali Vijay, Chestehwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Wriddhiman Saha, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Amit Mishra, Varun Aaron and Umesh Yadav.

South Africa: Hashim Amla (C), Dean Elgar, Stiaan van Zyl, Faf du Plessis, AB de Villiers, Dane Vilas, Vernon Philander, Simon Harmer, Dale Steyn, Kagiso Rabada and Imran Tahir.
