Over Rs 1.79 crore looted from 24 ATMs in 31 months: HP CM

Himachal Chief minister Virbhadra Singh on Monday informed that 24 ATMs of six banks have been looted in state between January 1, 2013 to July 31,2015 and in total over Rs 1.79 crore have been stolen.

He said that 22 persons had been arrested in connection with these thefts and so far Rs 16.35 lakh had been recovered.

In reply to another question, Transport Minister G S Bali said that 19 out of 27 Depots of Himachal Roads Transport Corporation are running in losses and the cumulative losses stood at Rs 79.90 crore.

Shimla depot topped with losses mounting to Rs 10.45 crore, followed by Tara Devi (Rs 7.93 crore), Bilaspur (Rs 7.93 crore), Shimla Rural (Rs 6.67 crore) and Dehra (Rs 6 crore).

Rural Development minister Anil Sharma told the house that fourteen cow sadans have been constructed while lands had been provided in 392 Panchayats for construction of cow sadans.

He said that 1,443 stray animals had been sheltered in these cow sadans and the government has so far provided Rs 4.38 crore for construction and maintenance of these cow shelters.
