Devotees can get images on postal stamps during Ujjain Kumbh

Date:

Devotees visiting Simhastha Kumbh Mela in Ujjain next year can get their images printed on postal stamps.

The religious fair will be held between April 22 and May 21, during which 15 lakh devotees are estimated to permanently reside.

“Under ‘My Stamp’ scheme of the Department of Posts, the devotees can get their images printed on postal stamps by paying Rs 300,” Postmaster General, Indore Circle, Ajay Kumar Rai said today.

The administration is expecting a footfall of over five crore people from across the country and abroad in the fair, held once in twelve years.

Meanwhile, Rai said that the 12th state-level exhibition of postal stamps will be organised here from February 5.

On a query over the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ scheme, he said a total of one lakh new bank accounts have been opened in Indore Circle under the Centre’s scheme.

“Moreover, 250 post offices under the circle are connected through core banking,” Rai said.

Mails are being sent from Indore through air service in more than ten cities apart from Mumbai and Delhi, the Postmaster General said.
