Congress to hold strategy meet in Parliament today

Date:

New Delhi: Congress president Sonia Gandhi, party vice-president Rahul Gandhi will chair a strategy meet with Congress MPs in the Parliament on Thursday.

The Congress is likely to discuss Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill, the National Herald case, law and order situation in Punjab, the CBI raid at the Delhi Secretariat and many other issues in the meeting.

The Winter Session of the Parliament has been witnessing repeated disruptions over several issues raised by the Opposition parties.

Earlier, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs M. Venkaiah Naidu said the opposition was inventing and manufacturing issues to stall the proceedings of the House.

“They are trying to invent and manufacture some issue or the other, to stall the functioning of Parliament. They are doing immense harm to the country and also to themselves,” Naidu told the media here.

Congress Party on Wednesday targeted Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and demanded his resignation over alleged gross financial irregularities in Delhi’s cricket body DDCA when he headed it from 1999 to 2013.

The development comes after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said yesterday that he proposed to order a Commission of Inquiry into the report of the committee set up by his government to go into the DDCA affairs.
