Facebook on ‘Privacy’ haox

Date:

It is rightly said that the internet is a shady place to be in, and that you shouldn’t trust everything that you find here. Recently, Facebook was flooded with generic posts that claimed that Facebook is violating individuals’ privacy.

All viewers of the post were urged to systematically copy and paste the same on their respective timelines. Like most things done in life, this too, was done by most without any further thought.

Facebook has recently confirmed that this ‘digital uprising’ is nothing more than a hoax that majority of the Indian population fell prey to.

Facebook issued a statement saying:

“You may have seen a post telling you to copy and paste a notice to retai control over things you share on Facebook. Don’t believe it. Our terms say clearly: You own all of the content and information you post on Facebook and you can control how it’s shared thought your privacy and application settings. That’s how it works, and this hasn’t changed.”

If you’re still insecure about your privacy details on Facebook, visit Privacy Basics on Facebook to find out more about how you can regulate the information you share. In simpler terms, Facebook has claimed that you own the data and information you share. So either way, copy pasting that status on your wall is pretty much pointless. Facebook encourages all users to read their Data and privacy policy in order to be well aware of their extent of control and ownership on Facebook.
