Modi’s townhall new tool for people connect

In his own unique style of interaction with citizens, the Prime Minster of India, Narendra Modi interacted with the citizens at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium today. The mega event “Townhall” was organized to celebrate the two years of MyGov, a government’s website, which connects the citizens with the government to ensure the public’s participation in policy making. It was the first time since the day of independence when an event like “Townhall” was organized by the government.

During the event, Prime Minister Modi talked about the wide range of issues from citizens engagement methods to health facilities to foreign policy. The event highlighted a very important and positive people-centric change in governance. He also launched PMO apps that can be used by people to communicate with Prime Minster Office (PMO) regarding their grievances. While inaugurating the event PM Modi, said “technology has made citizen participation possible. Last-mile delivery is as important as politics”. While addressing the citizens, he highlighted the importance of good governance.

At townhall PM broke his silence on ‘Gau Raksha’, he said “Cows don’t die because of murder but from consuming plastic from garbage. People should stop throwing plastic if they really want to do gau-seva,”.

Answering a question on “Gramin Vikas”, PM talked about the National Rurban Mission that plans to develop 300 villages across the country as growth centers. Rurban Mission is ‘Smart City Plus’, he said, adding 300 villages have been identified, which will be developed as a growth centre for the area. While talking about the tourism, he said that India must utilize its civilization to attract the world, we have the variety of foods if we will do proper marketing, we can do well.
