197 new dengue cases reported in WB

Kolkata, Aug 17 (PTI) Nearly 200 new dengue cases wererecorded from various districts of West Bengal even though nonew reports of deaths caused by the vector-borne disease wereregistered in the last 24 hours. The number of dengue deaths remained at 17, the numberof people affected by the vector-borne disease shot up to3,201 since January, West Bengal Director of Health ServicesBiswaranjan Satpathy told PTI. "We have not received any dengue-death report fromanywhere in the state in the last 24 hours and thus the tollremained at 17," Satpathy said. He said that 197 new cases of dengue were reported fromvarious districts of West Bengal. But there are cases reported from different districtsmost from Hooghly’s Serampore and North 24 Pargana’s Dumdumarea, he said. The state government has started awareness drivethrough advertisement in dailies as well as in collaborationwith the local civic bodies, Satpathy said. "A massive campaigning has been started and we hope ifpeople adhere to those guidelines we can keep a check on thisdisease," he said. PTI SCH NNUZM
