Amarnath yatra registers 1.31 lakh dip in 2016

Jammu, Aug 17 (PTI) The annual Amarnath Yatra haswitnessed a drastic fall of 1.31 lakh pilgrims this year evenas over 2.20 lakh devotees have paid obeisance at the caveshrine in south Kashmir Himalayas. "Till August 16, as many as 2,20,295 yatris visited theshrine," an official spokesperson said. A total of 3,52,771 pilgrims had paid obeisance at thecave in 2015, he said, adding a fall of 1.31 lakh pilgrims hasbeen registered this time. The number of yatris has fallen by 1.52 lakh if comparedto 2014 when 3,72,909 pilgrims had visited the shrine, thespokesperson said. The Amarnath yatra will conclude tomorrow. PTI AB FAR ZMNCHT
