Telangana Assembly to ratify GST Bill this month

Hyderabad, Aug 17 (PTI) Telangana government willcall an Assembly session this month to pass the ConstitutionAmendment Bill on Goods and Services Tax, state FinanceMinister Etela Rajender said today. "Already our Chief Minister had convened a meeting, and itwas decided to summon the Assembly as early as possible andurgently pass it," the Minister told PTI. Rajender recalled that members belonging to the rulingTelangana Rashtra Samiti in the Parliament had supported thebill and noted that the chief minister had assured the PrimeMinister Narendra Modi, who recently addressed a publicmeeting at Gajwel, of the state’s backing to GST. As for when the state would convene the House to passthe bill, he said, "It will happen as early as possible, itwill happen this month". During his maiden visit to Telangana on August 7 afterbecoming the Prime Minister, Modi had acknowledged the supportof TRS for the GST Bill.
