Deaths will further alienate people from mainstream: NC

Jammu, Aug 18 (PTI) The opposition National Conference(NC) today said the "current spate of deaths" in Jammu andKashmir was hurting the psyche of the people and further"alienating" and "distancing" them from the mainstream. "The current spate of deaths in Jammu and Kashmir ishurting the psyche of the people and they are gettingalienating from the mainstream," NC provincial PresidentDevender Singh Rana said. "The so called protagonists of ‘nationalism’ mustunderstand that such a strategy certainly does not serve thenational Interest," Rana said. He said even when the Kashmir Valley was on boil for thepast 40 days, attempts were being made by vested intereststo vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in Poonch, Rajouri, Doda,Ramban and Kishtwar districts of Jammu region. "This is a dangerous development," Rana said, adding thatafter failing to govern this sensitive state due to theirnaivety and administrative inexperience, the presentgovernment was attempting to hide their failures with anavowed objective of diverting attention. "Stung by 2008 agitation, the people will not oblige BJPin its sinister design this time," Rana said. Normal life remain paralysed in the Valley due to streetprotests since the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commanderBurhan Wani in an encounter with security forces on July 8.
