Five killed as car rams into tree on WEH in Mumbai

Mumbai, Aug 18 (PTI) Five persons, including a woman,were killed when their car rammed into a tree on the WesternExpress Highway in Vile Parle area here in the wee hourstoday. The accident occurred at around 5.20 AM when thespeeding Honda City car’s driver lost control as a result ofwhich the vehicle rammed into a tree alongside the road nearShastri Nagar area in Vile Parle, a police official said. "We have seized the mangled car and are investigating thematter," he said. As per preliminary information, the deceased werefriends and had planned to go out for a drive. Driver JunaidSoni lost control over the wheels following which the accidentoccurred, he said. The process of conducting the panchnama was on afterwhich the bodies will be sent for postmortem. The autopsy report will make it clear if the driverwas under the influence of alcohol, the official said. Out of the five deceased, four have been identified as- Muzzamil Makhnujia, Muzzamil Mukhtar Kanosiya (22), RashidaYusuf Sheikh (25) and Junaid Sheikh Soni (22), all residentsof Mira Road in neighbouring Thane district, he added.
