Maneka Gandhi ties rakhis to SSB jawans at Indo-Nepal border

Union minister Maneka Gandhi on Sunday visited the Indo-Nepal border post at Banbasa in Uttarakhand and tied rakhis to the officers and soldiers of Sashastra Seema Bal.

“Tied Rakhi to the officers and the jawans. Thanked them for keeping us safe. SSB has many Lady Officers. I was impressed by their discipline and commitment,” the Women and Child Development Minister tweeted.

Gandhi is among seven women ministers visiting border areas this Rakshabandhan to tie rakhis to soldiers posted there.

Some of the other ministers who will make similar trips include Textiles Minister Smriti Irani, who will visit Siachen, and Minister of State for Health Anupriya Patel.
Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will be in Assam.

MoS, Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti and Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti will also be tying rakhis to jawans.
