Day temperature soars in Punjab, Haryana

Chandigarh, Aug 19 (PTI) The maximum temperature in mostparts of Punjab and Haryana soared today with the mercurysettling three notches above normal. The maximum temperatures hovered between one degreeCelsius above normal and three notches above normal in mostparts of Punjab and Haryana, the MeT office said here. Ambala and Hisar settled at an identical high of 36.7degrees Celsius, three notches above normal. While Patiala had a high of 36.5 degrees Celsius, themaximum at Amritsar was 36.4 degrees Celsius, it said. Chandigarh and Ludhiana settled at an identical high of35.5 degrees Celsius, three and two notches above normalrespectively. Karnal in Haryana had a high of 34 degrees Celsius, onenotch above normal, MeT said. The MeT forecast light to moderate rainfall at a fewplaces in the region in the next 48 hours. PTI VJ SRY SCSRY
