33 pc quota for women in SI posts in Puducherry

Puducherry, Aug 20 (PTI): The Congress government todaydecided to earmark 33 per cent quota for women in the postsof Sub-Inspectors in the Union territory. "In keeping with the government stand on promotingwelfare of women, a 33 per cent quota will be available forwomen in posts of Sub Inspectors of Police, Chief MinisterV Narayanasamy said here today. He was addressing party workers at the 72nd birthanniversary celebrations of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhiat the PCC office here today Narayanasamy paid glowing tributes to  Rajiv Gandhi andsaid he was groomed by the late leader in politics. He said the Puducherry government has decided to disbursethe monthly assistance to ged persons and widows under welfareschemes through anganwadi centres instead of beneficiariesapproaching banks to get the assistance. Old age pension beneficiaries, who are octogenarianswould be handed over the assistance personally by bank staffand anganwadi staff at their homes, he said. Narayanasamy claimed that law and order was beingmaintained well, as could be seen since the last few months. PCC president and PWD Minister A Namassivayam administeredthe ‘anti terrorism pledge’ to all those present, includingministers, legislators and Deputy Speaker V P Sivakolundhu. Later Narayanasamy,his cabinet colleagues and legislatorsgarlanded the statue of Rajiv Gandhi in the neighbouringEllaipillaichavady. PTI COR APR  APR
