Duo impersonating as Currack ADM and PA arrested

Jajpur (Odisha), Aug 23 (PTI) Two persons werearrested today for allegedly impersonating as the AdditionalDistrict Magistrate (ADM) of Cuttack and his personalassistant (PA) in Kalinga Nagar Steel hub in Odisha’s Jajpurdistrict, the police said today. The Police also seized a car fitted with a red beacon,which was used by the impostors, identified as Debasish Das ofChatara village in Jagatsinghpur and Kailash Rout ofKhadiabandh in Dhenkanal district, said J K Das, SubDivisional Police officer (SDPO). While Debasish was posing as ADM of Cuttack, Kasilashwas impersonating as the PA to the fake ADM, the police said. The arrested duo was forwarded to the court and laterremanded to judicial custody after their bail pleas wererejected. Posing as the ADM, Debasish Das telephoned Jakhapurapolice station and sought police help saying he was visiting aprivate steel plant in Kalinga Nagar on Monday afternoon. An Assistant Sub-Inspector escorted their vehicle tothe steel plant. As the plant officials were informed earlierby the impostor, they received the fake ADM and took him tothe plant office, they said. But, the activities of Das raised suspicion among theplant officials. Two employees of the plant came out andstarted questioning the driver of the vehicle, who told themthe vehicle belonged to a travel agency in Cuttack and the duoboarded in it from Cuttack yesterday, they said. Soon the matter was reported to the police. "We thoroughly interrogated them and they confessed totheir crime. We have recovered many incriminating materialsfrom their possession," the SDPO said.
