AAP MLAs accuse Centre of ‘misusing’ Delhi Police

New Delhi, Aug 24 (PTI) Criticising the "raid" by AntiCorruption Bureau sleuths at the Delhi Commission for Womenoffice last week, Aam Aadmi Party MLAs today accused the Centreof "misusing" Delhi Police against them. The ruling party legislators are being "implicated infalse cases" by Delhi Police despite the fact that courts inseveral cases observed "political vendetta" against them, AAPMLA Nitin Tyagi said at the Assembly. Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan, who was arrested last monthafter a woman alleged that he tried to mow her down, saidpolice wanted him to stay in jail for more days, but court gavehim bail. "Delhi Police is targeting AAP MLAs. LG threatens us (tosend us jail), but I want to make it clear that we (MLAs) arenot afraid of any LG, Prime Minister and police," Khan saidwhile taking part in a discussion on police allegedly targetingthe legislators. Sanjeev Jha, an MLA from Burari constituency, criticisedthe police’s recent "raid" at DCW office and said that DCWchief Swati Maliwal was "targeted" by police. Since the Aam Aadmi Party has come to power in Delhi, itseleven MLAs have been arrested on various charges. Delhi’s Anti-Corruption Branch on August 18 carried out"searches" at Delhi Commission for Women office here inconnection with complaints by a former chief secretary and anex-chief of the panel.
