Chief Minister V Narayanasamy announced that the family ofthe victim would get a total solatium of Rs eight lakhs. Making the announcement in the assembly, he said thegovernment would provide Rs four lakhs from the DisasterRelief Fund and Rs one lakh from the CM`s Relief Fund. In addition to this, Rs one lakh would be paid from theInsurance scheme operated by Federation of FishermenCooperative Societies and Rs 2 lakhs under the Centrallyoperated Group Insurance scheme. Narayanasamy also announced that Rs 20,000 each would beprovided to fully damaged huts in Vanarapet hamlet, wherearound 20 huts were gutted when lightning hit the village. A sum of Rs 10,000 would be provided to partially damagedhuts. AIADMK member A.Anbalagan stressed the need forconstruction of concrete houses as people in coastal hamletswere facing hardships during natural calamities. The Chief Minister said the government would approach thecentre for sanction of funds for replacing the huts withconcrete buildings. PTI CorVS
