Turkish bombardment kills 20 civilians in Syria: monitor

Beirut, Aug 28 (AFP) Turkish shelling and air strikeskilled at least 20 civilians in Syria today, the fifth day ofan incursion against Islamic State group jihadists and Kurdishmilitia, a monitor said. "At least 20 civilians were killed and 50 others woundedby Turkish artillery fire and air strikes on Sunday morning atJeb el-Kussa," a village south of Jarabulus, said Rami AbdelRahman of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. It comes after Turkey suffered its first fatality onSaturday, blaming Kurdish militia in a fight for control ofthe border region.(AFP)AMS
