18-year-old drowns in Chambal River

Kota (Raj), Aug 29 (PTI) A 18-year-old youth drowned inthe Chambal river while taking bath at the ChattaneshawarMahadev river bank here, police said today. Salman, a resident of Modak Station, drowned at theChattaneshawar Mahadev river bank yesterday, said SubInspector Laxman Singh of Anantpura police station. The youth had come to the river bank for a picnic withhis friends. He fell into deep water while taking a bath,Singh said, adding rescue was started soon after the incidentbut the body could be recovered only this morning by the KotaMunicipal Corporation rescue team. The Inspector said, the body was handed over to familymembers without postmortem as they did not want any legalformalities. Meanwhile, the body of about 65-year-old unidentifiedwoman was recovered last evening floating under Chote Puleyaon the Chambal River in Kunhadi police station area. Identity of the woman is yet to be ascertained. The bodyhas been kept at Maharao Bheem Singh (MBS) hospital’smortuary, police said. PTI CORR ANB DVRCJ
