Kerala train derail: Services resume

Kochi, Aug 29 (PTI) Railway resumed train services inErnakulam and Thrissur route today, a day after rail traffic onthe route was affected due to derailment of Mangaluru-boundexpress train near Karukutty, about 45 km from here. The railways could commence the train services on theroute at 7.15 AM. Trains connected with electric engines havestarted running through both the tracks, a railway spokesmansaid. Several trains from Thiruvananthapuram and Palakkaddivisions have been regulated today. Many trains are runninglate or rescheduled, railways said. Passengers of the Mangaluru-bound express train escapedunhurt yesterday when 12 of its bogies derailed amid heavyrains at Karukutty. Railways have ordered a probe into the incident whichoccurred at 2.55 AM yesterday, shortly after the train 16347Thiruvananthapuram-Mangaluru Express left Aluva station andwas running at a slow speed.
