Ahmedabad, Aug 29 (PTI) A complaint was lodged with localpolice against music composer Vishal Dadlani for allegedlyhurting religious sentiments of Jains through his tweets onnoted monk Tarun Sagar. Jain community members, led by city Mayor Gautam Shah,marched to Ellisbridge police station to lodge a complaintagainst Dadlani and one Tahseen Poonawala for posting tweetsagainst Tarun Sagar. The complaint was lodged by BJP’s Kaushik Jain. A case has been registered against the duo under section66 of the Information Technology Act, and under sections 153(promoting enmity between groups), and 295 (outragingreligious feelings) of the Indian Penal Code, but yet toregister an FIR. Ellisbridge Police Station Inspector B S Rabari said,"Police will investigate the complaint first before decidingabout registering FIR against them." The Mayor told reporters that comments made by Dadlaniand Poonawala have offended the religious sentiments of Jaincommunity "and so we felt it was necessary to file a complaintagainst them." Kaushik Jain said his community wants police to arrestDadlani and Poonawala. Earlier, Dadlani had come under sharp criticism fromseveral quarters, including Delhi Chief Minister ArvindKejriwal, for posting a "sarcastic" tweets on Sagar’s addressin the state Assembly, where he was invited by Haryanagovernment to deliver a lecture ‘Kadve Vachan’ on Friday. After drawing a severe flak, Dadlani had tendered anapology for his tweet and also deleted it. He also apologised to the Jain monk, who appears nude,on Twitter.
