Chandigarh, Aug 30 (PTI) Punjab Pradesh CongressCommittee president Capt Amarinder Singh today claimed that apower scandal was gradually unraveling itself in the state andalleged that Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal hashanded over power projects to private companies on a"platter". "This move of Sukhbir is resulting in a loss ofhundreds of crores of rupees to the state exchequer, which isbeing passed on to the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited(PSPCL) consumers," he said alleging that Sukhbir is handingover power projects to private companies on a "platter." Amarinder announced that if the Congress comes to powerit government will review these projects to make up for thelosses. "What was the logic in making commitment to privatecompanies for buying power?" he asked, while adding, "with theresult the state, which is already reeling under financialcrisis, has to make payment to the companies without consumingtheir power". Referring to the Punjab State Power CorporationÂ’s(PSPCL) inability to find buyers for its power produced by theprivate power companies, he alleged that thanks to theterms and conditions dictated by the private power companies, the PSPCL power generation costs Rs 3.60 per unit, while inthe national grid electricity is available for around Rs 3 perunit only.
