Tribal toddler dies of malnutrition

Thane, Aug 30 (PTI) A toddler from Mokhada villagedied of extreme malnutrition at a government hospital inneighbouring Nashik district today after battling for his lifefor last four months. Sagar Wagh (two-and-half-year-old), suffering fromextreme malnutrition, was shifted to Kutir hospital in Jawharlast evening and then to the civil hospital in night, where hedied in early morning today. Earlier this year, Sagar, weighing 4.5 kg, wasadmitted at a camp for malnourished kids in Jawhar town. Former MLA from here, Vivek Pandit said Sagar was thevictim of the state government’s indifferent attitude. "The government stopped the VCDC (Village ChildDevelopment Centre) scheme, as a result of which several lakhchildren from the predominantly tribal regions suffered themost," he claimed. PTI CORRNSK
