Allahabad, Aug 30 (PTI) The Vishwa Hindu Parishad todaycondemned Bollywood composer and playback singer VishalDadlani for his tweet criticising the recent visit by a Jainmonk to the Haryana Assembly. "VHP strongly condemns the frivolous and insulting remarksby Vishal Dadlani and his likes. It has become a fashion toridicule everything that is part of India’s ancient religiousand cultural heritage. In the name of freedom of expression, demeaning people’sfaith can not be tolerated," VHP international workingPresident Pravin Togadia said in a statement. "We laud the Haryana Assembly for inviting Jain MunishriTarun Sagar Maharaj, whose pearls of wisdom will undoubtedlyinspire the members of the House. The VHP has tremendousrespect for revered Jain monks," Togadia said. Dadlani had created a furore with his tweet against Jainmonk Tarun Sagar who was invited by the Haryana government todeliver a lecture ‘Kadve Vachan’ in the Assembly on Friday. He later deleted the tweet and apologised for hurting thesentiments of the Jain community even as the Ambala policeregistered an FIR against him and booked him for "hurtingreligious sentiments". Meanwhile, Tarun Sagar has reportedly forgiven Dadlanisaying his remark may have come out of ignorance about thetradition followed by Digambar Jain monks who did not wear anyclothes.
