8 killed as car gets crushed between two vehicles in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Aug 31 (PTI) Eight persons, including sixstudents, were killed and one injured when their car gotcrushed between two lorries near a toll post at Medchal on thecity outskirts, police said today. The mishap occurred at around midnight last night, when aspeeding lorry rammed into the Multi-Purpose Vehicle frombehind which in-turn hit a stationary truck. As a result, the MPV got crushed between the two lorriesresulting in the death of eight of its occupants on the spot,Assistant Commissioner of Police (Petbasheerabad Division) SAshok Kumar told PTI. "One person suffered injuries in the accident and has beenshifted to a hospital. His condition is out of danger," theACP said, adding that six of the deceased were students ofengineering and degree colleges. The deceased, all friends in their 20s and 30s, were fromSadashivpet in Medak district of Telangana. They were on theirway to attend a reception function to Kompally here, theofficer said. The driver of the lorry which hit the MPV from the behindhas been taken into custody and after questioning will beplaced under arrest, the ACP said. Further investigation is on, police added.
