Kumar said "our prime interest is to ensure that we inIndia are able to make use of technologies developed by ISRO,and also benefit from the innovation which industry is doing." He told industries that there is an "excellent" opportunity with government looking forward to industry takingup greater and greater share. Agreeing that the task is not easy, he also said thereare many different "restrictive elements" to be overcome. Citing that the opportunity is tremendous because of thekind of services that are going to come up, he said, "Todaythe world is looking at providing more than 900 satellitesconstellation in a couple of years to provide internetservice." He also said the opportunities exist in deep space likeexploiting asteroid mining or mining in the outer planet. Antrix chairman and managing director S Rakesh said theglobal space market was USD 330 billion in 2015 and nearly75 per cent of that was the satellites segment. He said the small satellites market is booming and inthe next five years 2,000 to 2,500 small satellites areexpected to be launched. PTI KSU RA APRKIS
