Kashmiri pandit employees block roads, raise slogans against

gov Jammu, Sep 1 (PTI) Demanding their absorption in variousgovernment departments in Jammu, Kashmiri pandit employeeswho fled from Kashmir valley due to the alleged stone peltingby mobs on their transit camps, today blocked roads and burntan effigy of the state government. As their protest entered the 49th day today, more than1600 Kashmiri pandit employees blocked the Talab Tillo roadfor several hours and raised slogans against the government,alleging that it was not serious about their plight. Accusing the government of "step-motherly treatment"towards them, the protesters demanded adjustment to packageand batch in Jammu till a comprehensive plan for their returnand rehabilitation was framed. "Not a single official from the government has visited theprotest site to talk to us. We are being given thestep-motherly treatment," chairman of the All Parties MigrantCoordination Committee (APMCC) Vinod Pandit said. Pandit said the situation in Kashmir was "not conducive"for the return of the employees and "they have decided toreturn only when the entire community is rehabilitated in thevalley". More than 1600 Kashmiri pandit employees who were workingin various government departments under the Prime MinisterÂ’srehabilitation package in the Kashmir valley returned to Jammuafter their transit camps were allegedly attacked by stonepelting mob after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commanderBurhan Wani on July 8.
