No increase in power tariff for consumers in Haryana

Chandigarh, Sep 1 (PTI) No increase has been made inpower tariff for any category in the State, with HaryanaElectricity Regulatory Commission notifying the tariff orderfor 2016-17. "The tariff for consumers of all categories has beenreduced by 37 paise per unit," an official release said heretoday. The salient features of this order state that for ‘LTindustry’ with load up to 50 kW, fixed charges whereapplicable have been reduced from Rs 170/kW to Rs 160/kW,which would benefit 16,728 consumers. In case of ‘HT industry’ with load above 50 KW, the fixedcharges have been reduced from Rs 200/kVA to Rs 190/kVA, whichwould benefit 110 consumers. For rooftop solar system installed under the new SolarPolicy, the incentive has been increased from 25 paisa perunit to Re 1 per unit from August 1, 2016. Besides, the wheeling charges for ‘Open Access’ consumershave been reduced from 85 paisa per unit to 71 paisa per unit,it said. ‘Tatkal’ scheme for agriculture power connection has beenapproved for consumers who had applied after December 31,2012. Rebate of five per cent would be allowed for the consumersavailing supply through prepaid meters. Apart from this,domestic consumers with a load less than 20 KW in urban areasfalling under the Municipal Corporations or MunicipalCommittees would be given rebate of Rs five per bill. Senior citizens would get rebate of Rs 10 per bill. Consumers whose bill amount is less than Rs 15,000 couldpay their bills online directly on the website of the Discomsand avail rebate of Rs five. It would be mandatory for consumers with bills exceedingRs 15,000 to pay their bills online through RTGS/NEFT orauthorised banks, the release said. The Discoms have been directed to issue a request toagriculture power consumers whose annual income other thanagriculture is more than Rs 20 lakh for voluntarily giving uptheir agriculture subsidy on electricity.
