‘T’gana govt wants Nizam Sugar to be run in cooperative way’

Hyderabad, Sept 1 (PTI) TRS MP Kalwakuntla Kavithatoday said that Telangana government wants farmers to run theNizam Sugar Factory (presently Nizam Deccan Sugars Ltd) in aco-operative format. "From the past two years, our government is makingsincere efforts to take it (Nizam Sugar Factory) over and handit over to the farmers to run it in a cooperative format.Government has already compensated Rs 66 crore to sugarcanefarmers who have suffered losses," Kavitha told reportershere. "Our CM (K Chandrashekar Rao) asked the farmers to runthe factory in the form of a cooperative society. We wouldencourage cooperative running of the sugar factories by thefarmers. Our government is very supportive of thisinitiative," she said. "We always opposed privatisation of this particularsugar factory…we still oppose it. The company had removedsome employees and has gone to Board of Industrial Finance andRestructuring (BIFR). I believe this legal tangle should becleared soon and farmers will take over this sugar factory torun in cooperative manner," Kavitha added. PTI VVKNP
