Man arrested for robbing girls after threatening to rape them

Hyderabad, Sep 2 (PTI) A man, who used to lure girlstudents to the city outskirts on the pretext of providing themsoftware jobs and then allegedly robbed them by threatening torape them, was arrested today. Revelly Swaraj was nabbed at Ghatkesar here with whichpolice cracked eight cases of robberies and recovered 180 gramof gold ornaments and a cell phone, all worth Rs four lakh,from him, Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad East, MaheshMuralidhar Bhagwat said. Swaraj, a native of Telangana’s Karimnagar district and abusinessman, is a frequent visitor to computer institutes atMythrivanam and S R Nagar areas here. He used to interact with girl students who came out of thecomputer institutes and induced them by offering jobs insoftware companies by claiming that his sister is working as HRManager in such IT companies, the top cop said. In night hours, Swaraj used to take the girl students nearthe leading IT firms at Pocharam, Dundigal and also atGachibowli areas. "From there he would take them to isolated places andthreaten them of committing rape if they do not hand over thegold ornaments and thus robbed the gold items from the victimsand would later flee," the Commissioner explained.
