Kolkata, Sep 5 (PTI) Country’s largest car manufacturerMaruti Suzuki, which recently made entry into the commercialvehicle segment, will launch its first LCV ‘Super Carry’across the country in phases. "In the first phase, we are piloting the launch of theLCV in the five Indian places of Ahmedabad, Kolkata, LudhianaHaryana and Rajasthan," ED (marketing and sales) of MarutiSuzuki T Hashimoto said. "We want to see the response first. Then, we will startrolling out the vehicle in other Indian states." Launching Super Carry here today, he said Maruti is a newentrant in the segment where other major players like TataMotors and Mahindra are already present. Executive Director (marketing and sales) of MarutiSuzuki R S Kalsi said the LCV is being manufactured at theGurgaon plant of the company. "We are ramping up capacity while the Gujarat facilitywill become operational in the last quarter of the currentfiscal with an initial capacity of 2.5 lakh per annum," hetold reporters. He said the LCV has been specifically designed forIndia, adding that the pan-India rollout will be done in thenext financial year. Like Nexa, he said, a separate delivery channel will becreated for the LCV. "Presently, 50 dealers will be appointed for the salesof Super Carry in the five states," he said.
