Police use tear gas to break agitations near Manipur Assembly

Imphal, Sept 5 (PTI) The police used tear gas todisperse a large number of BJP workers who tried to storm theAssembly today in protest against the decision of the Congressgovernment to cancel the recruitment of Manipur policeConstables. Another group, belonging to the women and student wingsof Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System, also tried tostorm the Assembly complex demanding introduction of theproposed Inner Line Permit System bill in the current session. Curfew has been imposed within a one km radius of theManipur Assembly complex till the end of the session today inview of the agitatons. The police blocked the protestors outside the curfew-bound areas at various points in the state capital Imphal.PTI CORR MDMD
