Four IEDs planted by Maoists recovered in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, Sep 9 (PTI) Four Improvised Explosive Devices(IEDs) planted by Maoists were recovered today by the securityforces from Chhattisgarh’s insurgency-hit Sukma district,police said. A joint team of CRPF’s 217 battalion and district forcerecovered the explosives under Maraiguda police station limitswhile patrolling to ensure security to the under constructionMaraiguda-Golapalli road, Sukma Superintendent of Police (SP),Indira Kalyan Elesela told PTI. Security forces had launched the operation from Maraigudatowards Golapalli, located around 450 kms away from here sincethis morning. About 6-km away from Maraiguda at around 1120 hours, theyspotted the first explosive placed in a steel container,hidden about 20 metres beneath the ground on theunder-construction road in the forests. Subsequently, three more IEDs recovered close to thespot, he said. The explosives were weighed between 5 to 10 kgs, headded. The IEDs were immediately destroyed by the bomb disposalsquad, the SP said, adding that it was meant to harm securitypersonnel. PTI TKP ARSSMJRDS
