New Delhi, Sep 11 (PTI) Srinagar-based National Instituteof Technology (NIT), which was in the news recently after aconfrontation between outstation and Kashmiri students, hasdecided to establish the Delhi chapter of Alumni Connect toprovide a platform to globally disbursed alumni. One of the 31 NITs in the country run by the Union HumanResources Development Ministry, the campus of the instituteerupted in April last over a cricket match. There weredisturbances for about 10 days. An alumni meet was organised successfully in Srinagar inMay last year and now it has been decided to have a Delhichapter which will be opened on September 17. The decision was taken after the alumni repeatedlyexpressed their desire to support fresh graduating students,especially with training, placements and career counselling,Director of NIT, Srinagar Rajat Gupta said. During the meet in May last year, the alumni hadpresented an ambulance to the NIT and pledged money forscholarships in addition to personal time to teach students onlife and learning skills.
