‘CM should form all party delegation,meet PM on Cauvery issue’

Erode, Sept 13 (PTI): Former TNCC president E V K SElangovan today demanded that Chief Minister Jayalalithaa forman all party delegation and meet the Prime Minister on theCauvery issue and also the alleged attack on Tamilians anddestruction of their properties at Bengaluru. Speaking to reporters here, he said the Chief Ministershould get necessary compensation for the affected Tamils fromthe Karnataka government through the Prime Minister anddistribute the amount. Elangovan welcomed the Supreme Court directive toKarnataka for release of water daily to Tamil Nadu and saidthe present quantum of water released by that state wasinadequate. At least 30 TMC feet of water should be released. He also urged people of Tamil Nadu not to retaliate bydestroying Karnataka registration buses and other vehicles. Elangovan lambasted the Tamilnadu Chief Minister forher ‘failure’ to meet the Prime Minister on the Cauvery issueand subsequent attack on Tamilians. To a question he said, a party delegation may meet theAICC president and explain the necessity for water fromKarnataka and also to instruct the Karnataka CM to take stepsto provide necessary water for Tamilnadu. He claimed there was no vaccum in the Congress in thestate after his resignation. Elangovan said the alliance with DMK would continue forthe coming local body elections also and seat sharing would beonly after declaring the date was made known. PTI COR APRAPR
